Horror fans in Southern California can rejoice because Screamfest is back! Founded in 2001 by film producers Rachel Belofsky and Ross Martin, Screamfest Horror Film Festival is the largest and longest-running horror film festival in the United States. The 2019 Festival will be held at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood. Screamfest premieres and showcases new work from American and international independent horror filmmakers. The film festival runs from Oct.8th-Oct.17th. 

Eat, Brains, Love will open the festival Oct.8th

Over ten days, Screamfest will offer a slate of 26 feature-length films, many followed by a Q&A with the director and cast, as well as several short films. The film festival opens Tuesday, Oct. 8th, 2019 with a teenage zombie rom-com, Eat, Brain, Love. A Q&A will follow the movie with director Rodman Flender (Idle Hands) along with the cast including; Jake Cannavale, Angelique Rivera, Sarah Yarkin, Patrick Fabian, and Jim Titus. The festival will close Oct. 17th with the film We Summon the Darkness followed immediately by Q&A with director Marc Meyers, Alexandra Daddario, Keean Johnson, Johnny Knoxville, Logan Miller, Maddie Hasson, Amy Forsyth, and Austin Swift.

A Good Woman is Hard to Find (US Premiere)

Showtime: Monday, October 14, 2019 – 7:00 pm 

Synopsis: A dynamic killer thriller, with its finger firmly on the pulse of stark social commentary and shattering suspense. Recently widowed mother of two Sarah is desperate to know who murdered her husband in front of her young son, rendering him mute. Coerced into helping a low-life drug dealer stash narcotics stolen from the local Mr. Big, she’s forced into taking drastic action to protect her downtrodden submissive to take charge vigilante.

Eat, Brains, Love

Synopsis: An ordinary lunch hour explodes in an orgy of spurting blood and flying organs when stoner Jake Stephens and cheerleader Amanda Blake suddenly gut-munch half their class in the school cafeteria. Afflicted with a zombie virus, they hit the road in search of a cure while outrunning Cass, a telepath charged with hunting and killing the infected. We Summon the Darkness (West Coast Premiere)

Synopsis: In 1988, three best friends Alexis (Alex Daddario), Val and Beverly embark on a road trip to a heavy metal music festival where they bond with three guys in a band. After the show, the group heads off to Alexis’ parents’ secluded country home for an afterparty. What should be a night of fun and youthful debauchery instead takes a dark and deadly turn. With killers on the loose, can anyone be trusted?
