Culturally Obsessed at the 2019 ARDYs

Culturally Obsessed’s Jennifer Ortega was onsite for the 2019 ARDYs. The “Radio Disney Music Awards” kept its title for six years before officially becoming the “ARDYs: A Radio Disney Music Celebration.”

The seventh installment was hosted by “Descendants 3” and “Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists” star Sofia Carson – who did a cover of “Boy With Luv,” during this year’s show. The Jonas Brothers, Avril Lavigne (recipient of the 2019 Hero Award), Steve Aoki, Tori Kelly, Lovelytheband, Gabby Barrett, JD McCrary and Shahadi Wright Joseph also performed. Meg Donnelly and Fetty Wap, and Andy Grammer took to the stage as well. Donelly, Fetty Wap, and Grammer stopped to speak with us on the red carpet before the show.

Other interviews included the super fashionable Kylie Cantrall from “Gabby Duran & The Unsittables,” and Jason Maybaum from “Raven’s Home.” Stars in attendance included cast members from “BUNK’D,” “Just Roll With It,” “Bizaardvark,” “Quizney,” and more.

Heroes for Change honorees Malachi H. (The Boys & Girls Club National Youth of the Year) and Brittney B. (2019 Casey Excellence for Children Award Recipient) were on site as well.

The show aired live from CBS Studios, in Los Angeles, on June 16, at 8 p.m. EDT (and again at 8 p.m. PDT), on Disney Channel and across multiple Disney-branded platforms.

The best of Radio Disney was celebrated in style, as usual, with some fun moments. BB-8, the droid from “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” was even seen on the carpet. BTS won the “Global Phenom Award.” While the K-pop group was not there in person to accept the award, they left audiences with a heartfelt video for the occasion.

From theme parks and resorts to movies, TV, characters, and music, Disney is its own pop culture phenomenon. An event such as the ARDYs gives others a chance to honor every aspect of its makeup.

I was just reading about that new Little Mermaid show. The live one. It’s on ABC. It’s kind of a bad show though. At least that’s what I heard. I was really looking forward to it.
